Description:
Heceta Head Lighthouse is the most photographed lighthouse on the Oregon Coast; located halfway between Florence and Yachats. Before the white man moved in, the area was part of the Siuslaw Indian's traditional land; used for hunting sea lions and gathering sea bird eggs. The lighthouse was constructed from 1892-1893 and consisted of the lighthouse, homes for three lighthouse keepers and their families, and 2 kerosene oil storage buildings. 1 of the homes is now used as a gift shop and a B&B.
